Meet the (overactive) imagination behind the keyboard + the (overcaffeinated) human behind the French press
A RIVETING TIMELINE OF EVENTS
IT STARTS WITH STICK FIGURES + PULITZER-WINNING POETRY (SORT OF)
As a little girl I loved writing page-turning short stories on blue construction paper paired with exquisitely drawn stick figures. During this time, I also perfected long-winded poetry that, at least in my eyes, was wildly profound.
MY WORK EVOLVES TO COVER WORLD WARS + MILDLY ALARMING STATUS UPDATES
As a teenager, I particularly excelled at writing horribly inaccurate history papers based on lectures I couldn’t be bothered to listen to. That, and expertly crafted AOL Instant Messenger away statuses featuring just the right amount of cryptic flair.
THE ANSWER TO ALL MY ADULT PROBLEMS SERENDIPITOUSLY FINDS ME
I learn that people will actually PAY me to write when I come across an ad from copywriting coach #3,914 on Instagram. It turns out I can draft emails on a beach in Bali and pull in enough money in 90 days to buy my own damn beach.
THAT INSTAGRAM AD DROPPED INTO MY FEED ALMOST 10 YEARS AGO.
And in case you were wondering, no — I’m not writing this from a beach.
I’m writing it from a home office with 12 emotional support drinks and an empty plate next to me that once held sweet potato fries.
Some weeks I have to write ‘go outside please’ into my calendar because otherwise I forget the outside is a thing that exists.
And, since embarking on this career path, I’ve yet to have a first date that didn’t include being asked to trademark Dave’s brilliant business idea.
(Because it turns out no one knows wtf a copywriter actually is.)
(^ Me, in my home office, which is not, in fact, an exotic beach)
UNDERWHELMING DINNER DATES ASIDE (POOR DAVE)…
These are some of my favorite things about the work I do:
REASON #82 TO GET IN TOUCH
You also have a (slightly inconvenient for your wallet) soft spot for excellent ads… but are sick of writing them yourself
